We're baaaack!

So it's official, we have started podcast again after a 6 plus month hiatus. I doubt I'll ever add tonight's super short(10 minutes) podcast to the stream but it went fine. All my equipment worked alright, with just a couple of issues.

Here's what I left on the table:
-Eli Manning, elite QB? If Chicago, Buffalo and The Jets could pick anyone of the following QB's: Eli, Rodgers, Brady and Brees , Who would be unsigned? I rest my case.
-Should Ryan Braun sue MLB for leaking his test results? He's lost MILLIONS in endorsements because of this leak.
-How the U.S. Lost Out on iPhone Work. Why is it, if you commit a crime over seas you can and should be charged here in the states but if you break labor laws for American goods and do it overseas, it's perfectly legal?

Furious driver who failed to remove wheel clamp with axe set fire to his car, court told

A driver was so angry his parked car had been clamped that he set fire to it, a court has been told.

Scott Smithers, 27, of Victoria Parade, Torquay, set fire to newspaper in the back seat after attempts to remove the clamp with an axe failed, Exeter Crown Court was told.
He later admitted losing his temper in a drunken rage.
"My brain ended up being an idiot," he told police.

Judge Paul Darlow sentenced Smithers to a high level community order saying he had narrowly avoided jail because no lives had been threatened.
Smithers had previously admitted an offence of arson, on June 10 last year.
Prosecutor Howard Phillips said Smithers and his fiancee parked the Metro, worth £120, in Victoria Parade and went for a drink.
When they returned they discovered it had been clamped.
"In a drunken state this enraged him," said Mr Phillips.
"He got an axe out and tried to break the clamp."
When this failed he tried to set the car alight first trying to get the fuel pump from under the bonnet then taking a petrol can from the boot and pouring the contents into the vehicle.
The prosecutor said the can was virtually empty so Smithers screwed up newspaper, put it in the back seat and set it alight.
He girlfriend left the scene when he would not listen to her pleas to stop.
Smithers later told her it had been 'fun' to see firemen putting the fire out.
Mr Phillips said members of the public sitting in a nearby cafe had been inconvenienced and made fearful by the incident.
When police arrived they cordoned off the area and told people to leave.
Mitigating, Nigel Wraith, said Smithers handed himself in the next day after sobering up.
He said Smithers had a serious alcohol problem and was extremely sorry for what he had done.
He said Smithers often drank four litres of cider a day but wanted help to stop.
The court was told he had two children who he did not support financially. He had one previous conviction for criminal damage.
Judge Darlow said: "It is a very close run thing but I am just able to pass a high level community order."
He said he would go to prison if he did not co-operate with the authorities.
The order means Smithers will be supervised by probation for three years and reviewed by the court every 28 days.
He said Smithers must sign up to any rehabilitation programmes offered by the probation and show a willingness to change his ways.
A section of the busy harbourside was cordoned off on the day of the fire. Police and firefighters were called to the scene just outside the Yacht pub.
The fire was under control within 10 minutes. Both ends of Victoria Parade were sealed off while the emergency services were in attendance.
The vehicle had been clamped earlier.
Torbay Council traffic wardens do not clamp vehicles.
A council spokesman said it can use bailiffs to collect outstanding debts like unpaid parking penalties. He added: "Their authority comes from the warrants of execution which are issued to them from the council. This has been standard practice for many years."
Torbay Council says it was a council-instructed bailiff who clamped the vehicle as there were more than 20 outstanding penalty charge notices that had not been paid.

What do they always say in news? The initial reports are often wrong. The problem is most of us, myself included, only pay attention to the initial reports.

Q1-Nope, they weren't. As a matter of fact the Mafia was a group of harmless video game nerds.
Q2-Not at all true. They were both fairly popular. They partied with all sorts of people from their school on weekens and one of the two even went to prom the week before the shooting.
Q3-They didn't target anyone person, as a matter of fact their plan called for hundreds of students to be killed by explosions, the shooting was just part of a much larger plan.
Q4-No, they hated him. They were into techno, crappy, crappy techno.

So today's headline in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel "Marinette hostage-taker was Boy Scout, popular" should come as no shock to anyone. Who knows what was going on in this kids head and why he did it.

I've been looking for a new computer since my 18 month old Gateway started crapping out on me. I have to admit I really like the iPad, it looks super cool and I wanna be cool too. My problem is I can't really use it for anything other then looking cool. I was hoping there would be a nice Android tablet on the market by now, but nope. They all seem inadequate. I need something with not only a cool screen with touch features but it has to be a full on computer as well. I do a lot of audio editing and although it really doesn't require computing power but it does need more than what the iPad offers.

So watching football the past few weeks there's been an ad for Microsoft featuring Dell computers. In the commercial the show a guy working on a laptop and suddenly he he pushes the thing flat, it becomes a sweet looking tablet. At the end of the commercial they show the computer again. It's a Dell Inspiron Duo.

I ordered mine the other day from Dell, I also order the sweet JBL dock from Microsoft(they had it for around $50 and Dell wanted $99). The problem is it won't be here until late December. Making matters worse, no one has one yet. I can't read other real users reviews and impressions. I did read quite a bit about it from professional computer reviewers. They all were given prototype models with a smaller and slower hard drive and who knows what else has been tweeked since they went into production.

Full Body Scanners...The Next Chapter.

As you may have seen or heard there has been a large back-lash against the full body scanners. I had one of these things for the first time flying from Milwaukee to Washington D.C. I really didn't think much about it. My only thought was "Wow, I can't believe Milwaukee of all places has this."

A guy the other day who refused to get in the scanner gave the TSA agent a bit of a hard time before his pat down, a pat down the ended up never happening. He told the agent what he was doing was sexual assault. The audio was "accidentally" caught on his iPhone. Now he is facing an $11,000.00 fine for his actions, the flier, not the TSA stooge. They say you can refuse only before the process, not after it's started.

Now we are learning that although we we assured that the images were never stored or shared, that is not always the case. Gizmodo has found around 100 stored and shared images of passengers stored on a scanner that was sent in for repairs. I guess the good news is the operator was to stupid to know how to work the thing and all the images were blurry. Michael Vick the MVP?

I always knew Michael Vick could re-make his image, like it or not. I remember on The (old) Wisconsin Guys, Murph and I would talk about Vick fairly regularly. I always said, if he can play when he gets out, he will be able to become a celebrity once again. After last nights game against the Washington Redskins, Vick proved my point and then some.

Not only is this guy a star in the NFL, some people are talking league MVP or at the very least come back player of the year. Not only does he look great on the field, he's doing it during a season that lacks any clear cut super star player or team (Peter King left his #1 spot vacant this week)

I don't know what the criteria is for an NFL MVP is but if it's strictly about what happens on the field Mike Vick is as good as any for the MVP.

Cell phones on airplanes.

This is one of those things that I love to argue in favor of...allowing cell phones on airplanes. Singapore Airlines will start allowing cell phones on aircraft. CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL STORY. It's always seemed strange to me that you couldn't use your phone on an airplane. They used to say it was a safety issue, the radio in the phone could effect the navigation of the aircraft. That seemed like a darn good reason not to allow them, as a matter of fact if that were a danger they shouldn't even have allowed them on planes. The problem is the "interference argument" isn't true. The only real issue is your phones ability to connect to a cell tower. The truth is we often exaggerate how annoying other peoples behaviors can be. The reality is the vast majority of cell phone users are kind and considerate people who speak in quite tones using non-offensive language. If you ask people though about others phone use you would think we were all bores. Cussing, shouting and talking about the gal who gave your buddy an STD in a room full of children and nuns. This is such an exaggeration. There are people who behave this way, we all know someone who fits this bill. These people are this way with or with out their phones. Airlines have resisted accommodating phones because they are afraid of these types of people. I for one do not want my quality of life impeded because of a few bad apples. I think Singapore Airlines is the first, but defiantly not the last airline to allow and accommodate cell phones in flight.
